Pixar Mantra: Make it great.
A wonderful article over at Variety (by Peter Debruge) in conversation with John Lasseter on Pixar’s incredible 10 span feature film winning streak. ”It’s safe to fail.” says Lasseter who then goes on to explain in the article that the trick is to make those mistakes as quickly as possible and move on. At one point the article includes a quote from Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich:
“We fail a lot, we just don’t fail by the time the movie comes out. John would be the first to tell you that every movie we’ve made has been at one point the biggest piece of garbage we’ve ever worked on.”

Pizza Planet delivers!
If you can’t get enough of that Pizza Planet truck, Wikia has a box full of images on the cameo appearances this delivery vehicle has made in various Pixar projects. License plate number RES1536 and seen in both Toy Story films, there is a bumper sticker on the rear bumper that reads “How’s my driving? Ha ha ha ha ha!”.
They’ve found the truck in almost all Pixar feature films with the exception of The Incredibles (I’ll bet it’s there, somewhere).
Pizza Planet truck - Pixar Wiki
Update: There’s been some debate over at Wikia as to whether a couple of frames in The Incredibles shows the Pizza Planet truck seen on the road while the family is driving to fight the Omnidroid. The colors are right. What do you think?

Angus MacLane’s Lego Photostream
Pixar animator Angus MacLane has a flickr page where he shares his latest Lego creations.
Featured creations include Carl (from Up) and Wall-E (from Wall-E). Angus, who also directed the Pixar short film BURN-E shows his Lego talents with a likeness of the featured character. An amusing aspect of his flickr page are the comments as the majority of individuals who post are obviously not aware of his Pixar connection.

Pixar Heading Toward Sequel Summers
Pixar has made only one sequel - Toy Story 2 - all that could change with rumors of various projects underway at Pixar. What should we expect? Toy Story 3 - sequel to the sequel! The North American release date of this movie has been confirmed for June 18, 2010. Yeah!
On the horizon we will no doubt see a Cars 2 given the success of this franchise (merchandising on Cars currently accounts for over $5bn in revenues). Some have said we might expect to see Flash McQueen back on the screens in 2011. Work has also started on a sequel to 2001’s Monsters, Inc, a film that’s proven to be a continual success for Pixar. There’s no release date as of yet, but it’s a good assumption to expect it in 2012, which would make Pixar’s next three big summer movies sequels.
So what about Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Wall-E and Up? We’ll just have to wait to find out.

5 Fun Pixar (mostly Toy Story) Facts
1. The Pizza Planet Truck
first made an appearance in “Toy Story,” has made a cameo in nearly every Pixar film. In “Up,” the Pizza Planet truck can be seen at the intersection when Carl’s house flies over the town. It’s also in the Fentons Creamery parking lot at the end of the film.
2. John Ratzenberger
the only actor to voice a role in all 10 of the Disney / Pixar films. In addition to his latest role as Construction Foreman Tom in “Up,” he provided the voice of the charming and witty Hamm the piggy bank in “Toy Story” (in “Toy Story 2” and the upcoming “Toy Story 3”), P.T. Flea in “A Bug’s Life,” Yeti the snow monster in “Monsters, Inc.,” a school of Moonfish in “Finding Nemo,” a philosophical character named Underminer in “The Incredibles,” a Mac-truck in “Cars,” Mustafa, the head waiter in “Ratatouille,” and John, a human living aboard the spaceship Axiom in “WALL-E.”
3. Binford
the toolbox that traps Buzz Lightyear under the milk crate in the original “Toy Story” is made by Binford, the fictional company that Tim Allen (also the voice of Buzz) works for in the TV sitcom “Home Improvement”.
4. Luxo Jr.
the lamp used on the Pixar logo and the original Pixar short of the same name is seen in “Toy Story” on a desk in Andy’s room, albeit with a bright red paint job.
5. The Ball with the Red Star
from the short film called Luxo Jr. turns up in “Toy Story”. It’s the ball that Buzz Lightyear bounces off of as he’s trying to prove to all the other toys in Andy’s room that he really can fly.
