Venice Clip Revealed

Well, not the actual clip but there are some descriptions floating around on what Toy Story 3 footage was previewed at the Venice Film Festival this past weekend. Slashfilm posted a good description on Monday of the clip:

When he opens the ladder to the attic his sister shows up and he leaves the plastic bag on the floor to help her. the ladder closes and his mum walks by, sees the plastic bag and put everything near the trash out of the house…

What does Disney / Marvel mean for Boom! Studios?

Disney / Marvel

Disney / Marvel deal is the news of the day (See Disney to buy Marvel for $4bn). So what does this mean to the (potential) Boom! Studios deal to publish the new Disney titles and an ongoing comic series of CarsWall-E and Toy Story? (We blogged about this recently: Boom! to Serve Up New Toy Story Comic). If Marvel has anything to say about it, probably nothing. Why? Marvel Comics, publishes superhero comics. That’s their bread and butter, and it has worked incredibly well for them over the years.

Read about the comic industries reaction to the deal: More Comic Industry Reaction to Marvel & Disney.  Afterwards, please share your thoughts.

Lego Heart Toy Story

Lego Buzz Lightyear at Comic-Com 2009

At Comic-Con 2009 the Lego / Toy Story exhibit featured a life size Lego Buzz Lightyear as well as Lego’s new set of Toy Story Mini-figs (minature lego characters) which are to be released just in time for Christmas. With a simple search on Flickr you can see just how popular Buzz was at the conference. I’ve posted previously about the Toy Story Mini-figs.

Pixar Mantra: Make it great.

A wonderful article over at Variety (by Peter Debruge) in conversation with John Lasseter on Pixar’s incredible 10 span feature film winning streak. ”It’s safe to fail.” says Lasseter who then goes on to explain in the article that the trick is to make those mistakes as quickly as possible and move on. At one point the article includes a quote from Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich:

“We fail a lot, we just don’t fail by the time the movie comes out. John would be the first to tell you that every movie we’ve made has been at one point the biggest piece of garbage we’ve ever worked on.”
