To Infinity - and Beyond!

After 468 days in space the 12 inch toy was taken to the ISS in May 2008 and has since then been used to film a number of videos for a children’s space education program. A NASA spokesman said the toy had kept a “relatively low profile” but clips have shown the Toy Story star floating weightlessly around the station, bumping of walls. Buzz returned to earth on board space shuttle Discovery last week as the longest-tenured crew member in space.

Toy Story 3 Theatrical Trailer (inside scoop)

It hasn’t been officially posted, but descriptions of the new Toy Story 3 theatrical trailer (the first trailer using footage from the actual film) screened at D23 are starting to leek out.

Over on PixarTalk:

The first trailer comprised of all footage from the film was shown. It was extremely impressive. We see Andy’s Mom talking to Andy about what to do with these old toys (as he’s off to college) and we see some great flashback footage of Andy playing with all his toys (between TS2 and TS3 as Jessie and Bullseye are amongst the toys shown). We then cut to the toys being played with (very roughly) by some preschoolers at a daycare…continue reading

Comingsoon.net had this:

The footage we saw starts off with home videos of Andy as a young boy. We see him playing with his toys and then it cuts to him getting ready to leave for college. He’s in his room on the computer and his mom walks in asking what he’s going to do with his old toys. You see Woody and Buzz in a toy box with the others. The toys all then have a meeting to talk about what they think their future is. Woody calms down Rex as he worries about the possibility of being thrown away. Andy then comes back, picks up Woody and Buzz, then walks out of his room. We’re not sure where he’s going until the next scene where we see the toys in what looks like to be a day care or preschool. Little kids are terrorizing them and they try to make a run for it…continue reading

I’ve never hoped 276 days would pass as quickly as I want them to today…

More Toy Story 3 Cast Members Announced!

Today on stage at the D23 Expo, John Lasseter announced a bucket of new notable Toy Story 3 cast members. Joining previously announced Timothy Dalton (as Mr. Pricklepants …chuckle) is actor John Morris. John was the voice of young Andy in Toy Story and Toy Story 2 and is now back as 18 year old Andy in Toy Story 3. Also announced as new cast members are Jeff Garlin, Bonnie Hunt and Whoopi Goldberg although no indication yet on the characters they’ll be voicing. The Toy Story 3 Wikipedia entry has already been updated with the news.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Lasseter showed the new Toy Story 3 tailer, the first one with footage of the movie.

Stay alert Space Rangers, we’ll be paying close attention as this is unfolded!

Never to be out-done by his pal, Buzz, last weekend at the Venice International Film festival, a giant Lego Woody was unveiled. Sky.It (an Italian Entertainment site) posted a bunch of photos of Lasseter and crew frolicking it up with Buzz and Woody and various other Pixar characters.

You can see all the photos on the Italian website here: Venezia: tutti pazzi per la Pixar. Or, get the Google English-translated version: Venice: Something About Pixar.

Timothy Dalton - Bond

Bond? James Bond? Why no, it’s Mr. Pricklepants! Ex-James Bond star Timothy Dalton will voice a new Toy Story 3 character named Mr. Pricklepants as announced today by John Lasseter while at a London presentation outlining Disney / Pixar’s upcoming harvest. Mr. Pricklepants (which is probably the best character name this year) is a hedgehog toy with thespian tendencies. Read more: Ex-Bond to voice Toy Story role.

Well, not the actual clip but there are some descriptions floating around on what Toy Story 3 footage was previewed at the Venice Film Festival this past weekend. Slashfilm posted a good description on Monday of the clip:

Andy now has grown up, he has to go to college and his mom tells him to get rid of his stuff in the bedroom: attic or trash. So Andy finds Buzz and Woody in a box and decides to bring Woody with him at the college and put the other toys in a black plastic bag for the attic. When he opens the ladder to the attic his sister shows up and he leaves the plastic bag on the floor to help her. the ladder closes and his mum walks by, sees the plastic bag and put everything near the trash out of the house…
